China’s power system in the21st century is rapidly developing towards higher parameter, greater capacity and ultra high voltage, with interconnection of500kV power networks having been built up and become the main frame of our power grid. The ongoing reform in power grid system and enlarging scale of power system in North China enable the implementation of operation management of concentrated control500kV substation which is an important way to fulfilling a concentrated and economical administration of EHV power grid. This paper illustrates the significance of concentrated control of substation. A proposal, concerning the operation management of500kV substation controlled in concentration by North China’s power grid of ultra high voltage, is put forward in terms of structure and design of monitoring system as well as implementation of SCADA monitoring system. The paper also highlights the hardware and software designing in concentrated control system. Furthermore, it is creative in using determination supporting system to analyze cost effectiveness and in dealing with the equipment management and error prevention; hence suggesting an effective resolution to the problem of deficiency in operation caused by the mushrooming grids, which enhances safety and effectiveness in operation, and thus creates a new management model for substation operation.
