It is not optimistic, nowadays, for the global environment since environmental problems in various countries have become the serious threat to peoples’lives. As a developing country, China is in a stage of rapid economic development, but its development model is dependent on the supply of natural resources. This situation makes us pay a painful price on the ecological environment when achieving economic results. With the rapid rise of the rural economy, a large number of pollution sources have been transferred from urban to rural. In this way, the rural environment has to take the dual pressures from its own and the Urban Development. Nowadays, the original idyllic scenery cannot see in the rural areas. The garbage accumulation, sewage river, riddled mountain, subsidence land and other serious environmental problems can be seen everywhere. As a large agricultural country, there are about900million people living in rural areas in China. Obviously, the destruction of the rural environment directly impacted Chinese people’s living environment. Meanwhile, it seriously hampered the development of the rural economy. As considering the vast area and population in rural, solely relying on the government and business investment to deal with the environmental problems is not feasible. Therefore, we must call for all the people in the rural areas to protect the environment, and find a way out for the rural environment.Whether people in the rural areas have the concept of environmental protection or not, and what the concept have gone through during the changing process will be very worthy studying. After the analysis, the author found that farmers’ concept of environmental protection in the first stage has not yet formed, and they are still in pursuit of economic interests while neglecting environmental protection at that the same time. While, after the reform and opening up, which is the second stage described, farmers’ concept of environmental protection has been gradually awakening. Furthermore, many people begin to realize the importance of the ecological environment. In this chapter, the author analyzed the factors influencing the changing process according to the investigation of rural environmental concept in Xinmi City in Henan province, trying to find out the means that can enhance the concept of environmental protection in rural areas from these factors.Chapter4:causes for the change of the concept of China’s rural environmental protection. This chapter investigated the causes of the concept of rural environmental change objectively. Ecological environment damage affecting farmers’ living, the influences of social public opinion and the gradual improvement of law are the causes influencing the change.Chapter5:The impact of environmental Concepts to China’s rural economic development. However, there is still some misunderstanding in the farmers’ understanding of the concept of environmental protection.
