Among the Merina ethnic group, people living in the highland of Madagascar, the practice of reburial, exhumation or "Famadihana" in Malagasy language known as "turning of the dead" is very common. Despite its common practise, soon after Christian Missionary entered in the country in late â…©â…§ century, early church leader to have some form of non-conformity with Christianity on its form, process and rationale pointed this custom. In this research I try to find out first why this Malagasy tradition, have had survived" beside the total success of religion integration in the country despite many statement illustrating its contradiction with religion. Then afterwards, I will explain the era of "reburial Christian", a new buzz world of coexistence between religion and reburial. However, this "coexistence" is conditioned, in the long term by some set of recommendation from church institution, anthropologists, and research analysis. At the end of this research I grouped these set of recommendation to classify which common practice of reburial is to keep, to continue and to review according to feedback from interviews, literature review and research I led in throughout my studies. This is the new reconciliation between Christianity and reburial to avoid total disappearance of this custom.
