The context and language are inseparable.The context is one of the importantfactors of language understanding and use. The context is the medium of humancommunication and transmission of human civilization. Language is not static, butdynamic.The function of language are realized in the process of communication. Thelanguage communication is ultimately context factors. Language expression isdependent on the context, the understanding of the language also cannot be separatedfrom the context. Therefore, the correct understanding and using of the context is animportant factor of language functions. The ultimate goal of the second languageteaching is to make the learners to fully master the second language knowledge,skilled to correctly use in daily communication to communicate with each other. Inview of this, the paper argues that the context factors inevitably plays a vital role inteaching Chinese as a foreign language. To note that discussion in this paper, thecontext in teaching Chinese as a foreign language is not simply for classroomteaching environment and teaching plot settings, but link of teaching practice invocabulary, sentence structure, grammar and so on to help students understand andgrasp the "tunnel" in Chinese. On the basis of predecessors’ research for reference thebasic concepts and elements of context, the paper put forward the point that thecontext including context, situational context, social context, cultural context andcognitive context.The paper also discusses the context can play a important role inteaching Chinese as a foreign language. and further analyzes the application ofcontext in teaching Chinese as a foreign language class, including the oral class,listening class, writing class of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The paperanalyzes the use of the context for the different characteristics of the importantcourses. Basing on the theory summarized in combination with context in teachingChinese as a foreign language should follow some principles and strategies, includingaccessibility, scientifility, optimality, flexibility, interactivity, interestingprinciple.According to these principles it suggests several more representativesuggesting. In addition it summarizes a variety of interesting games for teachers engaged in the work of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.It hopes to havesome help to teaching Chinese as a foreign language practice.
