The U.S. Factor In China’s Aiding Vietnam Resisting France During The Initial Peirod Of New China

This dissertation attempts to analyze the history of China’s aiding Vietnamresisting France during the initial period of new China, summarize the influenceof American factor on China’s decision and implementation to aid Vietnamresisting France, as well as China’s countermeasures. The paper is mainly dividedinto the following three parts.The First Part: The US-China rivalry and China’s decision of aiding Vietnamresisting method. This part mainly introduces that America adopted a hostilepolicy toward new China, which laid a Chinese-American confrontation tone.While the America supported French to carry on the colonial war in Vietnam, theVietnam came to China ask for help. Whether from the reality of security interests,or form the ideological perspective, China had to guard the threats of America.We can say, the U.S. is a recessive factor in pushing China to make decision ofaiding Vietnam resisting France.The Second Part: The indirect contest between China and America in theprocess of China’s aiding Vietnam resisting France. This part mainly discussesthe influence of American factor on China’s implementation to aid Vietnamresisting France. According to the step of America’s aiding France, China hastaken the corresponding measures, which cause an indirect contest between Chinaand America, especially at the battle of Dien Bien Phu. In view of America’sdirect military clamor and substantial military aid, China has provided a fullassistance to Vietnam so as to ensure the Dien Bien Phu smoothly and finalvictory. It’s also made a condition for Vietnam to participate in the Genevaconference with a strong attitude.The Third Part: China’s understanding and countermeasures of America onsolving Indochina problem in the Geneva Conference. During the GenevaConference, the United States was reluctant, he tried to make the Indochinaproblem become an internationalization issue and prevent the Vietnam achievingthe victory of national liberation movement. According to America’s destructiveactivities, China not only made a careful preparation but also adopted a series ofstrategies so as to promote a peaceful settlement of the Indochina question.
