China is the second largest trading partner of Peru. In the recent years the amountof the trade is growing and growing. What’s more, Peru is one of the countries in LatinAmerica with the high density of population of overseas Chinese, about one hundredthousand. For fulfill the requirements of working or traveling, more and morePeruvians choose to learn Chinese in the Confucius Institute. In the light of currenttheories of instructional design together with my teaching experience of severalsemesters, I have made an instructional design of Initial-level Chinese comprehensiveclass based on the characteristics of the Initial-level Peruvian students in the ConfuciusInstitute of PUCP.This paper mainly analyses the teaching needs, teaching objectives and teachingstrategies in the specific teaching on the basis of current instructional theories,investigation and analysis of teaching practice. Additionally, I recite three Initial-levelinstructional designs which will be carried out. According to the results from thestudents, the other teachers and my introspection, I will propose some suggestionsabout the instructional design.The main purpose of this paper is to make the Initial-level instructional designfor the Peruvians based on the instructional design theories together with thecharacteristics of local students. I also hope my paper would enlighten the Initial-levelChinese teaching in Peru and teaching materials compilation.
