On September,2010, Shandong University enrolled its first batch of Master of Translation and Interpreting (hereinafter referred to as MTI) students. The improvement of translation competence needs practice and reviewing, therefore, the MTI students are encouraged to do more and more practice in their spare time. The author participated in the This report presents the translation workflow of one of the author’s translating experiences and her reflections on the translation of Federal Acquisition Regulation (hereinafter referred to as FAR) entrusted by the China Ministry of Finance, from which it’s hoped that it provides some basic experience and examples for the successors.The paper consists of an introduction and4main parts, which is the task description, process description, case study and conclusion. The first part describes how we contacted with the translation agency, got the requirements and analyzed the key features of the source text; the second part presents the difficulties arose during the translation process, the three stages for the author’s translation, quality control and feedback; the case study part analyzed the linguistic and nonlinguistic obstacles and some solutions; and the conclusion part offers experience of the FAR translation and some suggestions for MTI students as well as reflections of professionalization and translation management in the hope that it offers inspiration and help for the author herself and the prospective translators.
