Research On Color Words In Uyghur Language And Its Chinese Translating Skills

A Language has a very close relationship with the culture, language is the carrierof culture, culture is the deepest implication of the language, and any ethnic group’slanguage has been maintaining the strong cultural connotation of the ethnic group,words concerning colors as an integral system of vocabulary have been playing theimportant role in culture.Color has close relationship with human life and it is the most significant meansof understanding the global. Various kinds of languages in the world have thevocabulary concerning colors but the numbers of words which are about colors aredeferent. Due to natural living environment, request of social history, belief andnational character there are huge differences between them; therefore differentliterature work and daily words in deferent languages have kept deferent meaning ofdeferent colors.Words about colors have deferent cultural meaning from semantic meaning, so ithas made translating work difficult. Words about colors are not only important forliterature but also for daily life, it has given rise in differences in cultural andsemantic meaning due to long history of, deferent costumes and belief of Uyghur andChinese, but it is not enough to understand the differences between words aboutcolors among different ethnic groups. Words about colors are indispensable part inUyghur. If we study these terms, it is not only the research for Uyghur-Chinesetranslating but also can offer precious suggestion about cultural and literature. It canfurnish the Uyghur literature work with better environment of linguistics and culture.By studying, I personally although found that there are some works, articlesconcerning classification and implication, but there is no any advanced, systematicstudy about words concerning colors.This paper has defined the basic color words in Uyghur language, and also classified, touched the deep part of association with words, the change and diversityin semantics and also unveiled the cultural implication. Basically this work has helpedthe skills in Uyghur-Chinese translating which can show the thinking of Uyghurlanguage. And it contributed to understanding of micro linguistics and anthropologystudy. Meanwhile it also can reinforce the unity and diversity of one ethnic group sothat we can avoid the misunderstanding in social interaction.
