Shandong university people’s commune is a special event in Shandong university history from1958to1962. As product of ’Great Leap’and urban people’s commune movement, the foundation of people’s commune was influenced by political trends and education policy. The enlargement of anti-rightist struggle in1957changed party policy for the intellectual, and the democracy suggestion atmosphere was broken. With the development of great leap in1958, the central government degraded high education administration authority, which better promotes national universities independent access to urban people’s commune; Shandong University moved to Jinan from Qingdao, and founded the people’s commune. During1958-1959, under the guide of the committee of the sixth and eighth plenary session, Shandong university people’s commune entered trial run phase, and Shandong University determined people’s commune purpose, principle, task and organization. After over one year’s discuss and study, the facility thought consciousness have been improved and changed. Since1960the nation started a climax of building people’s commune, Shandong university commune mode was a miniature of that times and shaped a special teaching mode. Under the guidance of PRC, education served the proletariat, combined with production and integrated industry, agriculture, business, academia, soldiers in a body. Shandong University became not only a school but also a factory. The nature of the university broken the "economic basis determine superstructure" and the party’s "emancipating the mind, seeking truth from facts" principle, and therefore, the commune was quietly out of the historical stage after climax.
