Research On The Design Of Obstacle-free Guidance System In Nanjing Road Business Circle In Shanghai

With the rapid development of the world, the expansion of urban size and the arrival of aging, the new methods of information conveyance have appeared. Accordingly, guidance system has been widely applied to the society, which is of great significance to the people’s travel and social development.The guidance system is established for people to live, work, and travel in cities, which makes cities more organized and provides people with reliable and trustworthy environmental information. The guidance system has played a more and more important role in cities, and the amount of information to be conveyed in cities is constantly increasing and changing. The increase and diversification of information is bound to make the guidance system design more abundant and effective. The appearance of the guidance system design will improve people’s daily life and traveling, etc. To some extent, a good guidance system can reflect specific characteristics of a city, which also embodies the cultural and historical features of the city.More and more people demand a comfortable living environment in cities which develop fast and where the population grows rapidly. Therefore, the importance of urban information guidance has kept growing. Now the information guidance system has become one of the necessary auxiliary systems more than a simple signboard in urban construction. Consequently, we must value the design of the guidance system.The role the guidance system plays in cities is self-evident. However, it is directed towards the general population, and what should be done for the disabled people? Thus, obstacle-free information guidance design appeared for all those who are in demand. Sometimes normal people in specific restrictions will also be disabled. So design of obstacle-free information guidance system is worthy of our research.This thesis introduces the definition of urban guidance system; expounds its emergence, development, significance to society, domestic and international situation and existing problems of urban guidance system; and proposes that it is necessary to follow the human-oriented design standards. This thesis starts from the disadvantaged (aged, or disabled) groups in combination with the cultural features and physical circumstances of Nanjing Road in Shanghai, and researches into the design of guidance system for all the members in the society,This thesis puts forward the concept of "human-oriented design", i.e. the design of guidance system, either visual or auditory, aims to serve people in the Nanjing Road business circle and provide a perfect, comfortable, and guiding open space for people there.
