People-oriented Design: For Human Wants, Human Nature Or Human Principles?

" people-oriented" is the most popular word in current design field, whether design industry or design theory all hold up "people first" flag, value-oriented movement on design is beginning. Although Chinese design value have got rid of large-scale industrial production, begin to explore the source of design, but the knowledge and research about "people-oriented" isn't systematic and deep, especially the orientation for "people" is rather vague, also didn't thorough study of what people-oriented? How people-oriented? Lead to "people first" is just a hollow slogan, and can't let scientific, rigorous approach implement in design practice.The article then attempts to divide "people" into " human desire", "human nature" and "humanity", through the three levels to research "people oriented" design. Desire is due to people's defective or missing physical needs. Therefore, the "Desire" is the lower level of design. The "human nature" is people's "seeking own happiness" nature, so is the senior level. "Humanitarian" is seeking all the people's happy, this "people" does not mean person, but "the most extensive" and" long-term" people. So is the highest level of design. The lower level reveals more easily, and the higher level is more difficult to achieve, the " people-oriented" design must start from the low-level, and gradually upgrade to the advanced process.This article also discusses the relationship between design and "Desire", "human nature", "humanity" of the three pyramid structures, human desire is the foundation of human nature, and human nature is the basis of humanity, when the three come into conflict, the human desire must accept the constraint and guidance of human nature, and humanity must accept the constraints and guide of humanity. Therefore design can keep close to the human's natural and social property, and ultimately let the ultimate care of human come true.
