Teaching materials reflect the results of curriculum research and teachingresearch, which play an important role in the development of the teaching materialsconstruction. Foreign Chinese newspaper reading class is a relatively new foreignlanguage course. Since 1981, the first newspaper textbooks was published, thecompilation of the newspapers teaching materials have made some achievements aftermore than thirty years. But the compilation of the newspaper reading teachingtextbooks is still the weak link in the compilation of the textbooks of teaching Chineseas a foreign language. The published textbooks also have certain problems, such asteaching material is difficult, not timely and interesting enough, the multimediateaching technology is not widely used, and so on.This paper , on the basis of clearing the intermediate foreign Chinese newspaperreading course orientation and nature, further expounds the teaching aim, teachingtask and teaching principles; introduces the publication situation and the developmentcourse of the newspaper reading textbooks, as well as the classification of currenttextbooks. And then chooses two teaching materials to compare, and analyzes thegeneral situation, compile style and write content, sums up the advantages anddisadvantages of two materials. At last, the paper puts forward some conceptions forthe compiling of the intermediate foreign Chinese newspaper reading textbooks.This paper is divided into three parts: The first part clears intermediate foreignChinese newspaper reading course orientation and characteristics, analyzes therelationship between newspaper reading course and other courses, further defines theteaching target and the teaching task and its principle of teaching. Then it describesthe phases development of the textbooks, classifies the current teaching materialsaccording to the teaching object, skills training and the use of teaching materials, andexplores the principles of compiling teaching materials on that basis. The second partchooses two intermediate newspaper reading materials:《The new Chinese newspaperreading course (intermediate)》and《Times---intermediate Chinese newspaperreading course(book1&book 2)》. With comparing and analysising the compile styleand write content, this paper summarizes the advantage of the two, and points out the deficiencies. The third part, on the basis of textbooks contrast analysis, combiningthe questionnaire investigation and the interview with part of the teachers and students,summes up some existing problems of the present teaching materials published andputs forward the ideas of writing about the textbooks, hoping to provide the futureteaching material writers some valuable references.
