Life Is Elsewhere

In the domain of contemporary literature， Yan Lianke can not beneglectable.With full persistent and strong，intense and angry emotion，he alwayscries for the peasants who live in the southern of Henan in China. And on thisbasis，he created a large number of unique Short and Medium-length stories andnovels，and caused a big echo in the readers. After reading all of Yan Lianke’snovels,this thesis tries to discuss the inner spiritual meaning as well as narrativeskills, then reveal his special rural emotion and philosophic thinking about life inhis novels，especially the deep thought for the living conditions，vicissitudes ofChinese farmers and daily ethics，human weakness after it generalized all thedescriptions about death in his novels. Among them，the focus of this thesis is thewriter’s complex mood，life consciousness and tragedy concept hiding behind YanLianke’s writing about death from the angle of the author. At the same time，thepaper makes a simple analysis and review to the value and defect about his deathnarrative. This may provide a new angle of view for the study about Yan Lianke’sfictions, and enriching and add to his novel research.
