Background:University teaching and administrative staff is a special group in our society. With high professional knowledge level, they aim to teach students and cultivate senior intellectuals. In addition to these, they also dedicate themselves to do scientific research to promote the progress of science in order to better serve to the society. Both teaching and doing scientific research will require them to keep on learning and being innovative. They have to work harder because of the pressure from life and the society. Therefore, they might not have enough time to take a rest or do exercises. Their life and diet habit might be affected and become irregular. All these will lead to various kinds of illness in the long run. The health problem of this group of people should not be neglected and should get more attention from us.Research Objective:Based on the data collected from the health examination of the staff of a university in Zaozhuang City, this paper has described the frequently-encountered diseases, common diseases and abnormal biochemical index, explored the relationship between the health risk factors and frequently-encountered diseases and common diseases and given related suggestions so as to provide reference for health education.Materials and methods:The data were collected from the health examination report of the staff of Zaozhuang University, who took their health examination at Zaozhuang Municipal Hospital from September to December in2012. The investigation includes:the general information of the university staff, health risk factors, physical examination materials and the laboratory examination reports. The data were analyzed by using of SPSS13.0software and Chi-square test. Results:(1) The rate for the hypertension among all the subjects is16.5%, in which the male accounts21.8%and the female accounts for9.7%. The difference has statistical significance. In terms of the age, except for the subjects under30, The difference has statistical significance for the rate of hypertension at all ages between male and female subjects.(2) Biochemical results:the detection rate for dyslipidemia is25.6%. The male is up to36.0%and the female accounts for12.6%. The difference has statistical significance between the male and female subjects except for the subjects above60. The detection rate for hyperglycemia among all the subjects is10.6%. The male is12.4%and the female accounts for8.6%, The difference has statistical significance for the rate of hyperglycemia at all ages between male and female subjects。The difference has no statistical significance among the subject at all ages between male and female subjects. In the eleven indexes of liver function, there are130subjects with high glutamyltranspeptidase and124subjects with high total bilirubin. In the three index of the kidney function, there are165subjects with high serum uric acid,30subjects with high urea nitrogen and28subjects with high level of serum creatinine.(3) Results of B-Ultrasound Examination:the total detection rate of fatty liver is23.7%, with33.7%and11.3%for the male and the female respectively. The difference has statistical significance among these two genders.122male subjects have benign prostatic hyperplasia which is not found among the subjects under the age of30. More cases are found among the male subjects above60years old.(4) The results of the electrocardiogram:the detection rate of the abnormal electrocardiogram is17.6%. The male is16.5%and the female is18.9%. No significant difference is found in them.(5) In the gynaecological examination, the detection rates for cervicitis and colpitis are23.8%and22.6%respectively, which mainly occur at the age from30to50.(6) Examination results between different genders:among the common diseases and abnormal index, the positive rate in the detection of the diseases and abnormal index of the male subjects are higher than that of the female, except for the detection rate of electrocardiogram in which there is no obvious difference between different genders.(7) Examination results for different ages: with the growth of the age, the detection rate of the diseases and abnormal index is increasing and the types of diseases are also increasing. The rates of hypertension, high blood sugar, benign prostatic hyperplasia and hyperlipidemia in female subjects are increasing with the growth of the age and reach the highest point after60years old.(8) The relationship between related health factors and the illness: smoking, drinking, overweight and obesity are considered as the risk factors that may cause many diseases. This research has found out that there is a close relationship between these three risk factors and many kinds of diseases. Conclusion and recommendations:This research has found out that the detection rates of some chronic diseases and abnormal biochemical indexes are comparatively high, which mainly concentrate in the aspects of blood pressure, biochemical test, B-Ultrasound examination, electrocardiogram. The "three high"(high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar) phenomenon is very obvious, especially for male, The detection rates are higher than china averages. The detection rates of prostate hyperplasia among the elderly males and female gynecological diseases are quite high. Hypertension, hyperglycemia and high blood sugar are quite common. The rates of benign prostatic hyperplasia among elderly man and female gynecological diseases are also quite high. Many health problems among the university staff have been revealed from this health examination. Periodical examination should be carried out for the close observation of diseases and abnormal indexes mentioned in this paper in order to get diagnosis and cure as early as possible. At the same time, the related departments of the university should formulate the health education program and health promotion strategy by referring to the physical examination reports, strengthen the staffs awareness of health care and improve their health.
