Chemiluminescence (CL) is the luminescent phenomena and can be defined as the light emission produced by a chemical reaction. It has the advantages of high sensitivity, wide linear range, easy operation, etc. Flow-injection Chemiluminescence (FI-CL), which combines CL and FI, has high effieiency and accuracy. It has been widely used in environmental detection, food analysis, pharmaceutical analysis, and so on. In this paper, the CL detection with flow injection technique has been applied in pharmaceutical analysis. The major content was described as follows:1. In acid medium, Ce (Ⅳ) can oxidize pefloxacin mesylate to produce weak CL signal. The existence of rhodamine6G (Rh6G) and sodium dodecyl sulfonate (SDS) can greatly enhanced the CL signal. Based on this phenomenon, a new FI-CL method for the determination of pefloxacin has been established. The linear range of pefloxacin was1.0×10-8to1.0×105mol/L, the detection limit was8.35×109mol/L. The proposed method was applied satisfactorily for the determination of PM in pharmaceutical preparations and milk.2. A new FI-CL method to determination of the oxymatrine hasbeen developed based on the strongly enhancing effect ofoxymatrine on the CL reaction between KMnO4and Na2SO3in anacid medium. The detection limit is7.02×10-9mol/L. The utility ofthis method was demonstrated by determining oxymatrine intablets and medicinal herbs. The reaction mechanism has beendiscussed.3. CdTe quantum dots (QDs) can enhance the CL intensity ofluminol and potassium periodate system. However, levodopa couldstrongly decreased the CL intensity. Coupled with flow injection, anew CL method for the determination levodopa was established. The detection limit was3.85×10-9mol/L. The contents of levodopa inpharmaceutical tablets were determined by the proposed methodwith satisfactory results.
