ObjectiveTo explore the clinical efficacy of needle-knife therapycombined with local steroid injection in management ofperiarthritis of shoulder.By observing the range of motionimprovement of the should joint and alleviation of pain, the aimof this study is to elucidate the mechanism of the combinationtherapy and provide clinical reference for the effectivemanagement of this disease.MethodsIn this study,60out-patients of frozen shoulder from theorthopedics clinic in Wuhan Hospital of Chinese Medicine wererandomly divided into a treatment group and a control groupaccording to their visit time. The treatment group, treatedwith needle-knife therapy combined with local steroidinjection, consists of30patients,12males and18females,with an average age of (54.36.7) and (10.57.5) months ofaverage course of disease. While the control group were treatedwith closed treatment, which consists of30patients,10malesand20females,with an average age of (52.55.5) and averagecourse of disease (10.05.6) months. The treatment group were treated once a week and2weeks successively. While the controlgruou were once a week and2weeks successively.Assess themodification of clinical manifestations of each group at theend of the treatment. All data were displayed by mean standarddeviation and two-sided test was adopted to analyze thedata(The difference is considered statistically significantwhen P <0.05).Results1.In the treatment group,23patients were cured, accounting for76.7%of this group;4patients were excellent, accounting for10%; one patient was efficacious, accounting for3.3%;2patients were ineffective, accounting for6.7%.While inthe control group,14patients were cured, accounting for46.7%of this group;3patients were excellent, accounting for20%;two patients were effective, accounting for6.7%;11patientswere ineffective, accounting for36.7%. The effective rate ofthe treatment group and control group were93.3%,63.4%respectively (P <0.05).2.After the treatment, the scores of pain and function ofthe shoulder were analyzed statistically, and the differencewas markedly significant (P <0.01).3.With two weeks and four weeks follow-up post-treatment,the recurrence rate of the treatment group is10%,while46.7%for the control group, the difference was markedly significant(P <0.01).Conclusion1. Needle-knife therapy can significantly improve thepatient’s clinical symptoms, which is better than closedtreatment. 2. The clinical efficacy of needle-knife therapy issignificantl, which can improve the pain and ROM of the shoulderjoint rapidly and markedly, with a lower recurrent rate.3. The outcome of this study suggests that the needle-knifetherapy is a effective approach to frozen shoulder, with theadvantages of fast-onset,high cure rate and less side effect.
