Clinical Observations To The Efficacy Of Taohong Babai Decoction For Treating Melasma With Qi Stagnation And Blood Stasis

Purpose:To study the clinical efficiacy and pharmacological mechanism of Taohong Babai Dection for treating melasma with qi stagnation and blood stasis. And offer certain data and objective basis so as to search a safe and effective new Chinese traditional medicine oral preparation.Method:Seventy patients who are definite syndromes of qi stagnation and blood stasis and have melasma were devided into two groups-The Treating Group and The Contrasting Group, each of which has thirty-five patients. The Treating Group are given Taohong Babai decoction to take for a month. They should take one bag of Taohong Babai decoction each day, three times a day, and100ml each time. While The Contrast Group are given Taohong Siwu decoction to take also for a month. The means of taking it is the same as that of The Constracting Group take Taohong Babai decoction. One month is a course of treatment. In every course of treatment, obsrve respectively the two group members’areas of skin lesions and colour which appear before and after the treatment, record the cardinal symptoms and minor symptoms, and record the adverse reactions at any time. Finaly, make statistical analysis to the two observated group and then evaluate the treating effect of The Treating Group.Result:In The Treating Group, three patients are cured, thirteen have tangible effects, nine are improved, and nine have no effect. The tangible rate of effective examples is47.5%. In the Constrasting Group, no patient is cured, twelve have tangible effects, seven are improved, and fourteen have no effect. The tangible rate of effective examples is37.5%. Recording to statistical analysis, P>0.05. It means that the differences between the two groups don’t make any sense in statistical analysis. The above results illustratethat the two groups are the same in total treating effect.Conclusion:Taohong Babai decoction is an effctive method to cure melasma with qi stagnation and blood stasis. It has good effect and is worth being popularized. It has no obvious adverse reaction. And it has the same treating effect as Taohong Siwu decoction.
