Objective:To study clinical effects between dilatational-wave electroacupuncture and continuous-wave electroacupuncture in treating cervical spondylosis of vertebral artery type (CSA).Methods:60CSA cases were randomly divided into treatment group (treated by dilatational-wave electroacupuncture) and controlled group (treated by continuous-wave electroacupuncture). At the end of treatment, effective rate was analyzed, clinical effects evaluated via Assessment Scale of Symptoms and Function for Cervical Vertigo, Treatment Score for Cervical Spondylosis and SF-36Scale.Results:(1) Baseline analysis:age, course, Assessment Scale of Symptoms and Function for Cervical Vertigo, Treatment Score for Cervical Spondylosis and SF-36Scale were of no statistic significance(p>0.05);(2) Comparison of clinical effects between the two groups after the treatment:vertigo, headache, daily life or work, and psychological adaptation were of statistic significance (p<0.05), with neck and shoulder pain being of no statistic significance (p>0.05). Treatment Score for Cervical Spondylosis were of obvious statistic significance (p<0.05).but SF-36Scale was of no statistic significance (p>0.05).(3) Comparison in two groups before and after treatment:for the treatment group, Assessment Scale of Symptoms and Function for Cervical Vertigo, Treatment Score for Cervical Spondylosis and SF-36Scale were of obvious statistic significance (p<0.01). For the controlled group, Assessment Scale of Symptoms and Function for Cervical Vertigo, Treatment Score for Cervical Spondylosis and SF-36Scale were of obvious statistic significance (p<0.01).(4) Follow-up comparison between the two groups: neck and shoulder pain and daily life or work were of obvious statistic significance (p<0.01) with vertigo, headache, and psychological adaptation being of no statistic significance (p>0.05). Treatment Score for Cervical Spondylosis were of obvious statistic significance (p<0.01). SF-36were of statistic significance (p<0.05).(5) Follow-up comparison in groups:for the treatment group, all the items except headache were of obvious statistic significance(p<0.01). Treatment Score for Cervical Spondylosis and SF-36were of no statistic significance (p>0.05);for the controlled group, all the items except headache and neck-shoulder pain were of statistic significance (p<0.05). Treatment Score for Cervical Spondylosis and SF-36were of no statistic significance (p>0.05)Conclusion:Both of two methods could improve the symptoms and life quality of CSA patients, while effects of dilatational-wave electroacupuncture group were better than the continuous-wave electroacupuncture. Therefore, dilatational-wave electroacupuncture could be a preferred therapy in treating CSA.
