Thedifference of reading success rate was compared among the patients using differentvisual aids. It compaed of the rehabilitation effect before and after using visual aids byusing the rank sum test. The removing residual rate and reading success ratedifferences were compared by using chi-square test. Results1.The study was accorded to the statistical basic situation of visual disability patientsregistered in the Beijing deformity certificate management system in2012.(1)There are44159holders of visual disability certificate in Beijing,inciuding52.85%males and47.15%females. The epidemiological features of visual disability.(1) The ratio of blindness increased with male gender(2) The middle and old age patients who more than41years old is88%of allvisual disability patients.(3))The first three disability reasons were etinal and uveitis lesions, congenitalabnormalities or developmental disorders and cataract.Their percentage in totalvisual disability were16.33%、1,6%and10%.(4) Grade1to Grade4of visual disability in Beijing were respectively23.87%,15.61%,13.42%and47.10%.(5) The number was8.66%of total visual disability patients who got the povertysubsidy. The highest proportion is12.80%in the outer districts and counties. 2.Visual aids can effectively improve the vision of visual disability.(1) Distance vision was improved in both low vision group and blind group afterusing single tube telescope and long distance glasses type devices.(2) The difference from visual handicap was no significant betwent low visiongroup and blind group after using single cylinder hand-held telescope and distanceglasses type telescope.(3).Reading success rate in group using electronic visual aids is better than thatusing optical visual aids. This study described and analyzed the basic vision disability information ofBeijing. The rehabilitative effects of frequently-used visual aids were comparedand the current existing problems and shortcomings in visual aids services wereanalyzed. Then several corresponding countermeasures and suggestions aboutfuture work were presented as following:(1)Improving the visual aids policy and increase the power on allowance ofvisual aids;(2)Further strengthening the institute construction and building the servicenetwork of visual aids;(3)Accelerating cultivation of talents, advancing assessment and adaptationservices;(4)Strengthening the study and communication for visual aids;(5)Integrating the work on visual aids into the overall work with disabilities.
