The Clinical Application Experience Of Ultrapro Mesh For Tension-Free Repair In Inguinal Hernia

Objective: To evaluate clinical application of Ultrapro mesh fortension-free repair in treating inguinal herniaMethods:73patients underwent tension-free repair of inguinal hernia byusing Ultrapro mesh between June2009and January2011in the Department ofGastrointestinal&Gland Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of GuangxiMedical University. The early complications, hospital stay, postoperativechronic pain, foreign body sensation and hernia recurrence were analyzed.Results：59cases use the Utrapro Plug (UPP) and14cases use theUltrapro Hernia System(UHS).The operations were successful in all cases andthe time of operation was from56to118min.2cases suffered from edema ofthe scrotum,4cases suffered urine retention,4cases suffered from incisionSwelling，2cases suffered from Subcutaneous fat liquefaction. The time ofhospital days after surgery was from5to9days. The average follow-up timewas12months, No recurrence occurred by follow-up ranged from6~20monthsafter operation. However, there were2.7%(2/73) patients suffering from slightchronic pain and9.6%(7/73) patients complaining foreign body sensation.Conclusions: The clinical application in using UPP and UHS for tension-free repair of inguinal hernia is not only low rate of recurrence ofpostoperative, but also with an additional advantage of a lesser degree of chronicpain and foreign body sensation. So we should adhere to the principles ofselecting individualized material for hernia repair.The young patients and typeⅠ、Ⅱ inguinal hernia should select UPP,and the elderly and type Ⅲ、Ⅳinguinal hernia should select UHS.
