Objective: To investigate the expression of the p16INK4atumour suppressor gene, thefibroblast growth factor2(FGF-2) and D2-40in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia3(CIN3),microinvasive spuamous cell carcinoma and invasive spuamous cell carcinoma of cervix, and to examine the relationship between the expression of them and the cervicalcarcinoma invasion or lymph node metastasis. Methods: Immunohistochemistry methodwas used to examine the expression of p16INK4a, FGF-2and D2-40in35cases of CIN3,13cases of microinvasive spuamous cell carcinoma and52cases of invasive spuamous cellcarcinoma of cervix. Results:(1)The positive rates of p16INK4ain CIN3, microinvasivespuamous cell carcinoma and invasive spuamous cell carcinoma of cervix were85.71%,100.00%and94.23%,respectively,(P=0.277);Over expression of the p16INK4aprotein was significantly higher in microinvasive carcinoma than that in CIN3(χ2=7.561,P=0.006).(2)The positive rates of FGF-2in CIN3, microinvasive spuamous cell carcinomaand invasive spuamous cell carcinoma of cervix were51.43%,53.85%and76.92%,respectively,(χ2=6.794, P=0.033); The expression strength of FGF-2wassignificantly correlated with the extent and development of cervical lesion(rs=0.280,P=0.005).(3)The positive strength of p16INK4aand FGF-2were significant correlationwith lymph node metastasis in cervical carcinoma(x2MH=8.424, P=0.005;x2MH=9.733,P=0.002), the expression of FGF-2was significantly correlated with depth of stromainfiltration, while no significant association was found with tumor size, histological gradeand clinical stage.(4) The positive rates of D2-40in CIN3, microinvasive spuamous cellcarcinoma and invasive spuamous cell carcinoma of cervix were(6.35±4.07),(6.26±3.99)and (6.57±3.06),respectively,(F=0.061, P=0.941);The expression of D2-40was nocorrelation with any clinical characteristic(P>0.05).(5) The expression of p16INK4awasweakly positively correlated with FGF-2(r=0.355, P=0.004),but the expression ofp16INK4aand FGF-2was no significant association compared with D2-40, respectively,(P >0.05). Conclusion: Abnormal expression of p16INK4amay be helpful to the diagnosismicroinvasive carcinoma; To examine the expression of p16INK4aand FGF-2in cervicalbiopsy tissue may be taken as an important clinical reference value for the evaluation ofthe development of cervical lesions, and the invasion and metastasis of cervicalcarcinoma.
