Objective: To explore the clinical result of fixation on the distal femur fracture withLISS(Less Invasive Stabilization System),and to analyze the related factors during theoperation. Methods: From oct.2009to mar.2011,21Patients were treated with LISS.There were14males and7females,with age from26to71years.The LISS plates were insertedbeneath the Periosteum through a small incision after closed reduction. The locking screwswere inserted through stab incisions, and by monocortical fixation. Results: Almost all the Patients achieved bone union during the follow up from6to12months.2Patients had their implants removed. The function of the knee was evaluatedaccording to Kolment score system based on both the subjective feeling and objective PE,and there were13excellent and6good and1acceptable and1Poor,the good-excellentrate was90.5%.There was no broken of screw or Plate and no infection in all of thePatients. Conclusions: The unique designed LISS has the advantages of Protecting the bloodsupply of bone fragments and the Periosteum, optimizing bone union and functionrecovery.LISS Provides an alternative for treatment of distal femoral fractures. However, asa new designed system, not only conception but the Procedure as well should be demandedstrictly.
