Objectives To study the knowledge, attitude and practice(sKAP)of rural patients withhypertension in Lianyungang, analyze its influencing factors, and provide references forpreventing hypertension. Methods A survey was made among the people of Lianyungang region, using themultistage random cluster sampling. Firstly, the county of Ganyu and Donghai wereselected. Secondly, six or seven towns of each city were selected. Thirdly, permanentresidents(living more than5years) of each incorporated village of the towns,aged45and over, were screened for hypertension.Hypertension was defined as mean systolicblood pressure﹥or﹦140mmHg, diastolic blood pressure﹥or﹦90mmHg, and/or useof antihypertensive medications. The measurements of blood pressure, weight andheight were obtained by trained observers. The individuals who participated thequestionnaire survey were randomly selected. The obtained data were analyzed bydescriptive statistics, Chi-square test, single and multi-factor logistic regress methods.Results1. About49.2%people pass the test of relative knowledge consideringhypertension.(1) The correct rate of the total knowledge, the professional knowledge, the risk factors and the complications of hypertension were46.8%,8.3%,46.6%,46.4%,respectively.(2) According to multi-factor logistic regression analysis, education, healtheducation and family history of hypertension were the influence factors of the pass ofscore in knowledge. There existed positive relations between health education, familyhistory of hypertension and the pass rate of knowledge score of hypertension. The rateincreased with the increase of education.2. The pass rate of score in attitude was48.3%. According to multi-factor logistic regression analysis, occupation, average personalmonthly income, family history of hypertension and the pass of score in knowledgewere entered in the regression model.3. The pass rate of score in practice was48.3%.According to multi-factor logistic regression analysis, sex, health education, familyhistory of hypertension, the pass of score in knowledge and attitude were entered in theregression model.4. The total pass rate of score in knowledge, attitude and practice(KAP) of patients with hypertension was50.4%. According to multi-factor logisticregression analysis, education and family history of hypertension were the influencefactors. People with good education who obtained and accepted hypertensionknowledge more easily, would pay attention to their health, take correct attitude andgood behavior in their lives, and get higher rates. Conclusions The results show that the average systolic blood pressure of hypertensi-on patients increased with the increase of age, as the average diastolic blood pressuredecreased. So the pulse pressure widened with the increase of age. The pass rates ofscore in the knowledge, attitude and practice of hypertension were extremely low, because of the backwardness of economic, cultural level, hypertension knowledgeawareness low.The prevalence of hypertension was significantly higher due to pooreating habits and life behavior change, smoking, drinking and other bad habits as wellas body weight increased rapidly. It is necessary to carry out health education programto improve knowledge on hypertension in rural areas and to facilitate up building ofhealthy behaviors on control high blood pressure.
