ObjectiveStudy and understand current hypertensive patients' Knowledge,Attitude and Practice(K.A.P) on physical therapy by applying K.A.P Theory and Stages of Behavioral Change Model in Sports Psychology.Identify and study factors affecting hypertensive patients' K.A.P on physical therapy.Provide theoretical foundation for physical therapy treatment on hypertensive patients..Methods1.Design questionnaire Based on Guidelines on Prevention and Management of High Blood Pressure(2005 Revision) and some domestic and foreign documents about K.A.P in patients with hypertension,we designed a questionnaire(Study of Hypertensive Patients' K.A.P on physical Therapy) that includes general condition of patients, patients' K.A.P on physical exercise, and subjective factors affecting patients taking physical therapy.2.Objects Research objects were outpatients with hypertension from a third grade A hospital in Guang Zhou.By convenience sampling method and inclusion criteria,Identify participants using pre-enacted inclusion and exclusion criteria. Exclude non-voluntary participants.Perform face-to-face interview with sampled participants.Obtain 238 valid questionnaires.3.Data Handling and Statistics Analysis Analyze data using SPSS.13.0. Perform descriptive statistics analysis such as t-test,variance analysis,chi-square test, spearman correlation analysisResults1.Knowledge The full score of knowledge on physical exercise is 8.The average score was 4.42±1.87,the lowest score was 1,while the highest score is 8.Alter making T-test and Analysis of variance to the influence factors of knowledge on physical therapy,we found that the factors affecting patients' knowledge score are age,"on-job or not","hospitalization or not","education on physical exercise or not","short or long course of disease" and "different per capita-month incomes of family".For question "what principles should be followed?",there were only 124 people who chose the correct answers, about 52.1%.For question "which physical exercise should be taken?",90 people choose the correct answers, about 37.2%.For question"how long should take every time at least?",there were 149 people who chose the correct answers, about 62.6%.For question "how many times exercise should be take weekly at least?",there were 120 people who chose the correct answers, about 50.4%.For question "what exercise intensity should be reached?", there were only 14 people who chose the correct answers, about 5.9%2.Attitude For question "whether it is necessary to have systemic therapy when high blood pressure people do not have any symptoms of "uncomfortable?", about 46.6%think it's unnecessary, and 17.6%do not care. For question "whether it is necessary to improve life style?",about 30.3%think it's unnecessary, and 16.4% do not care. For question "Whether it is necessary to persist in exercise?",about 19.7%think it's unnecessary, and 17.6%do not care. For question "whether it will be helpful for treatment of hypertension to take exercise?",about 21.0%think it's not helpful, and 34.9%do not care. For question "whether it is necessary to persist in exercise after regular drug treatment?",about 25.2%think it's unnecessary, and 19.3 %do not care. For question "whether it is necessary persist in exercise after patient has achieved the goal of normal blood pressure level by systemic therapy and physical exercise?",about 40.8%think it's unnecessary, and 19.7%do not care. For question "whether it is necessary to take drugs following doctor's advices after patients have taken exercise constantly?",about 23.1%think it's unnecessary, and 7.6%do not care.3.Practice Among participated 238 patients, there are 46 people at the stage of Pre-contemplation,about 19.3%.36 people at the stage of Contemplation, about 15.1 %.48 people at the stage of Preparation, about 20.2%.21 people at the stage of Actiom, about 8.8%.87 people at the stage of Maintenance, about 36.6%.We performed chi-square test on the factors affecting patients' practice distribution of difference in five stages, which are age, weight, course of disease, blood pressure, educational background, family income, different residence, methods of medical payment,on-job or not.Patients in the stage of Action and Maintenance mostly take exercise together, and they always choose walk and jog as their best love. Most patients take exercise in the residential area.4 Attitude and Practice Patients' response to questions on attitude and practice varies, and distribution of exercise behavior in five stages shows statistical difference.Conclusion1.The situation of knowledge and practice on physical exercise of patients with hypertension is not optimistic. The factors such as age,on-job or not, hospitalization or not, health education, course of disease, income have affected the understanding on physical exercise of patients with hypertension.2.Some patients have suspected or indifferent attitude toward antihypertensive effect of physical exercise, and this incorrect attitude directly affect patients' exercise practice.3.The more positively and optimistically patient value physical therapy, the higher probability of physical exercise in maintenance stage is.4.19.3%patients have no intention and plan of starting physical exercise, and only 36.6%of patients exercise regularly over half year.5.The factors such as age, weight, disease of course,per-capita monthly income of family, residence, methods of medical payment and on-job or not have affected phased distribution of patients' practice.6.Most time, patients in the stage of Action and Maintenance exercise together in their residential area, and walking and jogging are their top choices.7.Following suggestions are made in order to improve the current less optimistic situation of patients' K.A.P on physical exercise:strengthen health education, optimization of physical therapy, perform prescription on physical therapy by doctors, family support, behavior therapy and social support.
