Objective The objective of this thesis was to contrastively analyze thesurgery effect of Lichtenstein tension-free hernia repair and Open Preperitoneal Repair. Methods Between March2010and October2010, One hundred andtwenty-five patients with inguinal hernia in our department was included inthis trial. They were randomized to receive Lichtenstein’s operation or OpenPreperitoneal Repair under local anesthesia. Sixty-three patients receivedLichtenstein repair and sixty-two received Open Preperitoneal Repair. Torecord the Length of operation, the length of stay, the operative bleeding, cost, the cut pain, the ecchymoma and scrotal edema, the infection of incisionalwound, the high sense of wound discomfort rate and the other complicationsafter operation. The follow-Up visit time were6—18months.Follow-up visitrate of Lichtenstein group was98.4%.Open Preperitoneal Repair group was98.3%. Chi square test was used to analyze the quantity data and t test wasused to analyze the quality data by the SPSS13.0statistic software package. Results There were none recurrence case in the fellow-up period. In theLichtenstein group(62cases): The surgery time is (54.4±7.4min),the length ofstay was(3.9±0.8h),the VAS was (2.1±1.1) and hospital stay was(2.0±0.7days).While, in the Open Preperitoneal group (61cases) was55.4±6.8min,3.7±1.0h, 1.7±1.1,1.8±0.6respectively. There had no remarkable difference in surgerytime and the length of stay(P>0.05). By contrast, there had significantlydifference in the VAS; the operative bleeding and the cost (P<0.05). Eitherpatients who received Lichtenstein repair or Open Preperitoneal repair had thesame likely to experience hematoma/ecchymosis, perineal oedema, sense ofwound discomfort (both P>0.05). Fewer patients in the Lichtenstein groupreported pain and total complications compared with patients in the OpenPreperitoneal group. However, There had no remarkable difference ofthem(P>0.05).Conclusion Both of The Lichtenstein operations and Open PreperitonealRepair are security, effective and low recurrence rate. Open PreperitonealRepair operation has great advantage to Lichtenstein operation in the pain ofwound discomfort rate. However, it is cost much.
