Objective:To observe the change and its clinical significance of serum B-type brainnatriuretic peptide(BNP)concentration in patients with acute cerebral hemorrhage, andevaluate the pertinence BNP level level in plasma and hemorrhage timing, volume, position and hyponatremia. Methods: The plasma BNP level was measured by ELISA method in60patientsfrom the first affiliated hospital of Nanchang university with acute cerebralhemorrhage,and30healthy volunteers participated in the study. The generalcondition, hemorrhage position, volume, and hyponatremia were measured.Result:The BNP level in plasma in hyponatremia group was significantly higher thanin control group. The BNP level in patients with large hemorrhage, basal gangliahemorrhage or thalamus hemorrhage were significantly higher than in patients withmiddle hemorrhage, small hemorrhage and lobar hemorrhage.Hyponatremia aftercerebral hemorrhage is related to the site, volume and prognosis. Conclusion: The BNP level was significantly higher in patients with cerebralhemorrhage than in control group. It was related to the site, volume and hyponatremia.BNP is secreted primarily by the hypothalamus. So the level of BNP increased mainlydue to the oppression of the hypothalamus caused by brain injury and increasedintracranial pressure.BNP is a very important mark which plays an important role inthe diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of acute cerebral hemorrhage.BNP is secretedabnormally after the acute cerebral hemorrhage, and then there is water and electrolytebalance disorders appeared in the body.If it can not be handled correctly, then it mayincrease the secondary damage of CNS and even cause death.
