Objectives To research the changes in the functional symptoms and in the quality of life of patients during the first4months after the surgery for lung cancer and to analyze the factors associated with it.Methods The epidemiological survey method longitudinal study was conducted to analyze quality of life of113patients in the1st,2nd, and4th months after surgery is assessed by using the Chinese version of EORTC QLQ-LC43scale and SDS and analyzed by the methods of adopting the data descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression.Results1In the1st,2nd, and4th months physical function was highest score, role function lowest score in postoperative. To Wilcoxon analysis showed, Physical function, the role of function, emotional function, social function and the overall quality of life score in the fourth month improved significantly (P<0.05). Cognitive function change was not significant.2Symptoms in ERQTC QLQ-C30scale fatigue was highest score during1st,2nd, and4th months postoperation after lung cancer. To Wilcoxon analysis showed, fatigue, shortness of breath, and the pain and loss of appetite score in the postoperative1st,2nd, and4th months has significant difference (P<0.05), and the other symptoms change was not statistically significant. Cough score during1st,2nd, and4th months postoperation after lung cancer in the ERQTC QLQ-LC13scale. Wilcoxon analysis showed showed that, shortness of breath, chest pain, cough, hand or shoulder pain score in the postoperative1st,2nd, and4th months have improved significantly (P<0.05). Brothers tingling and hair loss score increased, but no significant differences. The rest of the symptoms change was not statistically significant.3The factors influencing the quality of life include depression, smoking history and adjuvant therapy.Conclusions In the4th month after the surgery, the overall quality of life has been improved, and most symptoms have been eased. However, the obstacle in fatigue,cough and role function is still serious, and it should get shared concerns from doctors and patients.
