Observation Of Clinical Effect Of Treating Moderate To Sever Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy Patients With Wu Mei Wan

ObjectiveThe medications of diabetic peripheral neuopathy mainly include promoting microcirculation, nurturing nerves, antioxidant, in addition to non-drug treatment(physical training, psychotherapy). In the case of improving the quality of life in patients and reliving the symptoms of autonomic function abnormal regulation, there are more contradictions and obstacles in clinical practice. Quantities of ducuments and clinical research materials indicate that traditional Chinese medical science and medicine together with the modern medical therapy implement the advantage in the comprehensive therapy of DPN.This research is aimed to observe the short-term efficacy on treating moderate to sever DPN patients with Wu Mei Wan(a decoction of Jueyin disease in<ShangHanLun>), and investigate the main principle of treatment and improving the quality of life in patients. accordingly provide the direct scientific objective data.Methods40cases of moderate to sever DPN patients were divided into treatment group and control group. The treatment group used WuMei Wan together with the traditional conventional therapeutic scheme. The control group were treated with traditonal conventional therapy with western medicine. The observation compared the change of clinical symptoms, physical signs, MNDS scale, the improvement of median nerve and common peroneal nerve conduction velocity after two courses of treatment between the two groups.ResultsThe treatment group was better than the control group in improving the clinical symptoms, physical signs and the change of MNDS scale. In the meantime the quality of life was remarkably improved in the treatment group. The effective rate of treatment group was90%, compared to the control group was60%. The data was significant different from the two groups.(P<0.05) The symptoms of autonomic function abnormal regulation was greatly relived in the patients of treatment group, as the quality of life. In addition, this treatment appearently shew the advantage of improving nerve conduction velocity. The investigation illustrated that the therapy of treatment group was more effective than the control group.Conelusion①With the help of using Wu Mei Wan together with the traditional conventional therapeutic scheme in treating patients of moderate to sever DPN,symptoms、physical signs and nerve conduction velocity could be significantly improved, as the quality of life. This therapy is worth popularizing.②We should advert to the type of cold-syndrom associatied with heat-syndrom,excessive and deficiency syndrome, upper heat and lower cold in the dialectic of moderate to sever diabetic peripheral neuopathy patients.
