BackgroundIn traditional Chinese medicine theory, LIDP belong to the category of "lumbocrural pain", and now its treatment divide into the surgrey therapy and non-surgrey therapy. Acpunctrue and cupping therapy, which are the most frequently used treatment to the LIDP, could dimish the inflammation, release partial myospasm, improve the blood micro-circulation. And acucupping therapy have all the function above, could block the "muscular tone-pain"circle to cure the disease. So, it is significant to search the more effective treatment to LIDP because of its high incidence rate and high recurrence rate, which influence the LIDP patient’s quality of lifeObject iveThrough observing the therapeutic effect of acucupping therapy to LIDP, to develop an effective, easy-operating and safe treatment method to LIDP.MethodsRandomized controlled trials were carried out in this research.60LIDP patients were randomly divided into two groups-treatment group and control group, with30cases in each group. Both of them were cured with electric acupuncture and the acu-points used locate in the back and leg as following:Meanwhile, after the electric therapy, the acucupping therapy was taken in the treatment group as well as the cupping therapy was applied in the controlled group. All the treatments were carried out five times a week,1week a course, and the course of treatments was2weeks. After2weeks treatment, all the patients were evaluated through the VAS and JOA scale to prove that if it is effective to cure the disease with magnet therapy at acu-points.ResultBefore the treatment, there was no statistical difference (P>0.05) between the two groups in terms of age, gender, pattern of syndrome, course of disease, the VAS, and the scores of JOA. Among the60patients,the numbers of female and male are equational, while the average age and the average course of disease were years and years respectively. In the three differentiated patterns of syndrome,"syndrome of blood stasis" was the most common one.1. Self comparison of the score of Visual Analogue and JOA Scale before and after the treatment:In both groups, the values of the two indexes above are significantly different (P<0.05), showing that both treatments are effective to LIDP.2. Comparison between treatment and control group:In treatment group, the improve in values of Visual Analogue and JOA Scale is larger than that in control group. The difference is statistically significant (P<0.05).3. After the therapy, the treatment group had a total effective rate of90.0%, and8cases were cured,15cases were significant improved,6cases were improved,1case had no effect. The control group had a total effect rate of93.3%, and7cases were cured,22cases were significant improved,6cases were improved,1cases had no effect. The general effect of two groups had no significant difference (P<0.05).ConeclusionTo the LIDP patients, basic on the the electric acupuncture, acucupping therapy and the cupping therapy is both effective in improving the ability of daily life and releasing the pain. However, the acucupping therapy is superior and have synergistic effect with the electric acupuncture.
