Objective: TO evaluate the safety and feasibility of percutaneous endoscopicgastrostomy(PEG),and investigate the advantage over surgical gastrostomy(SG).Methods: Retrospective study of118patients due to various reasons were dividedinto PEG group(72cases)and SG group(46cases),compare the difference betweentwo groups, included the operation time, anesthesia, starting time of tube feeding, postoperative complication rate, operation cost, length of hospital stay. Results: Operations were completed successfully in all patients, noprocedure-related mortality occurred in the two groups. PEG group Was all performedunder the local anesthesia in the endoscope suite; SG group was all performed in theoperating room,26cases were under the general anesthesia and20cases were underthe epidural anesthesia. The two groups in operation time, anesthesia, starting time oftube feeding, surgical site, postoperative complication rate, operation cost, thedifference was statistically significant(P<0.05);in length of hospital stay thedifference wasn’t statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusions:PEG is a safe and feasible one,it Can be performed under the localanesthesia in the endoscope suite and has shorter operation time and starting time oftube feeding, less postoperative complication rate and operation cost.PEG can be thefirst choice for clinical practice....
