This study analyzed interaction of blade and stalks movement in cutting process, reached the main factors impacting cutting drag, which affected machinery cutting stalks on energy consumption directly. Therefore, based on overseas and domestic stem cutting theories and correlative experimental research, researched its physical and mechanical properties of cornstalk via DDL-200type computer controlled electronic universal testing machine. By the research and experiment about properties of cornstalk, influencing factors of the cutting procedure of corn stalk, picked cutting speed, relative position of cutting blades and stalk, model of fixed blade (one fixed blade and double fixed blades), relationship between cutting force of stalk, cutting consumption and influencing factors was discovered, which provided basis for improvement of the cutting device. On the basis of above-mentioned study, this study researched and improved the chopper of9ZC-460hob-type hay cutter. After improved cutting way, the performance indicators have been improved by some extent. Compared with the original model, productivity increased by4.87%,4.08%reduction in power consumption and the per kilowatt hour output increased by7.76%.The test results shown that shear power of the double blades could be reduced by8%-12%than the single fixed blade.
