Research On Post Occupancy Evaluation Criteria In Terms Of General Hospital’s Three-level Function Layout

Hospital building is an important part of the hospital. Hospital provides function spacefor hundreds of hospital departments, nearly a hundred kinds of medical activities and dozensof traffic flow line. Function space layout affects the eiffciency in the use of hospital.Therefore, the functional layout of the hospital building is being more and more widelyattention. Although hospital construction has entered a new wave for almost ten years,hospital project during this period mostly exposed problems in functional layout. The longand circuitous flow lines caused a lot of inconvenience for the users. And the economic andsocial benefits of the hospital could not achieve the desired target, leaving many regrets andlessons learned for the hospital builders. Due to our lack of hospital use feedback from PostOccupancy Evaluation (POE), these similar questions are repeated constantly in the differentprojects. Based on this situation, Professor Ge Lun Applied the key project, named Hospitalbuilding function and environmental POE system, for the Beijing Natural Science Foundationof China hoping to solve the above problems. This paper is the subject of sub-topics.This thesis is based on the Hospital Building Rating System theory and hospitalbuildings Three-level Functional Layout theory. To feelings and eiffciency angle, authorcollates and analysis information and data of more than ten evaluation item, such as spatialposition, flow line organization, capacity and layout, from the three levels of function zone,function circle and function group. Methods and principles for guidance, supplement andimprove the scoring indicators on the basis of large amounts of data research, field researchand expert’s advice and establish the general hospital’s Three-Level Functional Layout POEcriteria. This POE for the general hospital’s Three-Level Functional Layout selects hospitalsnew built and used for more than two years to be evaluated, and selects location layout,streamlined organization and capacity to be evaluated. It can evaluate more comprehensivefactors impacting the hospital functional layout.The main portion of the article is the establishment of evaluation criteria. The process isdivided into three stages which are initiative establishment, repeated adjustments and theeventual establishment. Each stage of the discussion are in accordance with the order of thebasis for evaluation, the evaluation framework and evaluation index. Among this, theidentification of framework and selection of indicators in the evaluation of functional layoutis the key to this study. Paper describes one by one on all evaluation criteria in three levels,and articulates the basis and significance of each evaluation indicators. Finally, the POE of thegeneral hospital of Chinese People’s Liberation Army as an example, explains how to use theevaluation criteria to evaluate the functional layout of hospital buildings, and proposes visionfor the future of the hospital building POE system.This study fills the blank of hospital building functional layout POE. Hope that theestablishment of the evaluation criteria can provide reference and basis for the assessment ofhospital building, provide standard for self-assessment of general hospitals, and provide hospitals in the past for other new hospital building lessons learned as a reference. Also wishto add design principles and guidelines, and provide a reliable basis for the revision of thedesign criteria and norms.
