Power performance and fuel economy are considered as the two of the most important performance indicators for all kinds of vehicles which are the issue of greatest concern by the designers and the consumers. This paper used vehicle detection technology and optimization theory to optimize the transmission parameters, with the purpose of the needs of the forest ATV engine and transmission system, and ultimately achieve the purpose of improving dynamic performance under the premise of increasing fuel consumption.First, this paper took the bench test on the forest fire fighting ATV engine and vehicle, and established the mathematical model of engine performance simulation with the knowledge of vehicle theory, and discussed the evaluation system of power and fuel economy of ATV and evaluation indexes, and set up the mathematical model of vehicle power and economy.Second, made use of MATLAB and CRUISE to simulate the dynamic performance of LH260forest fire fighting ATV, and established a standing start acceleration time as the objective function of the optimization model and chose a suitable optimization method for optimizing the model. Made a program to solve the optimization model, and compared the result of optimization of dynamic performance. The result showed that dynamic performance was improved on the condition of modest increasing in fuel consumption.
