Chinese Classical Gardens are the elites of Chinese classical culture, and the handle of space is one of the most important parts of a Chinese Classical Garden. To create exceptional modern gardens and landscape architectures with Chinese characteristics, the contemporary landscape designers need to analyze and make conclude of the ways in which the Chinese Classic Gardens handle space. With taking visual experience for metrics, the thesis analyzes the method of space handling in Master of Nets Garden’s central attraction, which is one of the most typical Chinese Classical Gardens, by using perception and quantitative analysis comprehensively. Via analyzing the physical quantity, positional relationship of the spatial elements in the garden, and their influence to observers’visual experience, the thesis tries to find out the points that make the spatial organization in Master of Nets Garden’s central attraction so successful, and generalize them into recapitulative features that can be used in the designing of normal modern landscape architectures. At the end of the thesis, several foreign landscape cases which use similar spatial handling methods with Master of Nets Garden will be revealed, in purpose to test and verify the possibility of guiding the design of modern Chinese landscape architectures with the features recapitulated.
