Research On The Ancestral Temples In Anhui Pingshan

An ancestral temple is a kind of building types associated with clan system’s development. It had a rapid development in the villages where some people have ties of blood live. It sets the essence of traditional architecture. However, along with the change of times and social system and the flow of the population, the function of ancestral halls has irreversibly changed. Now the protection of the ancestral temples is not optimistic. In this background, this paper investigates into the ancestral temples in Anhui Pingshan. With studying on the architectural features in detail, the strategies on protecting the ancestral halls in Pingshan are proposed.This paper begins with a visit in Pingshan, It describes the ancestral halls’ background in geography, culture, socio-economic and the Ping Shan Shu’s family history by the way of consulting information and researching examples. Also the location and layout of the Village are analyzed. Subsequently, thorough the investigation, the status of the ancestral temples in Pingshan is analyzed by their sitting, layout, history, current situation and functional charac-teristics. Furthermore, based on theoretics researching and analysis, this paper studies the arc-hitectural features of the ancestral halls in Pingshan on five aspects including plan, spatial or-ganization, elevations, structure and decorative details. Moreover, the factors affecting the organization of the plan and space are pointed out. Finally, a strategical discuss on the protec-tion of the ancestral temples and the travel industry development of Pingshan Village is made.This paper has detailed researches and analysis on the ancestral temples in Pingshan from the point of architecture. It will be a new sample in the study of the ancestral halls in Huizhou. The author hopes to raise the social attention of Pingshan’s ancestral halls. This text will be useful to the protection of the ancestral temples and the travel industry development of Pingshan Village.
