It is well known. Brick and stone are local materials, with the construction of housing meet " according to the local conditions, choosing the materials", and compared to the reinforced concrete structure, can save cement and steel, reduced cost. brick-stone material has a good fire resistance performance, better chemical stability performance and atmospheric stability. during the construction area, brick-stone masonry do not need special technical equipment. furthermore brick-stone masonry especially brick masonry,have better insulation, acoustic performance.Masonry structure because of the major self-respect which caused great earthquake effect, but the seismic performance is poor, the majority in all the earthquake damage, or even collapse, suffered heavy losses. how to improve the fragile nature of masonry to enhance the structure of the seismic performance, it is urgent.Prestressing the masonry structure can not only change its material property, improve its cracking-resistance, shearing-resistance and earthquake-resistance, but also expand its application range, fulfill its development for tall-buildings, anti-seismic and environmental protection.based on foreign and domestic researches, This paper doing the test research about prestressed brick masonry walls under vertical upper load. the following is the primary content of the research: Simulate the wall between the window and designed test model, carried out the level monotony load static test to the horizontal prestressed brick masonry wall, analyzed cracking-resistance态shear-resistance capability of the horizontal prestressed brick masonry wall. The experimental results show that prestressing the walls can greatly improve the shearing-resistance. and the prestressed walls are forced more uniformly which the material property are completely developed, adopt the finite element analysis software and carry out the nonlinear finite element analysis of the prestressed and non-prestressed masonry walls under vertical upper load, the results indicate that the shear-resistance capability of the prestressed brick masonry walls are greatly improved.Based on the test results and the theoretical analysis, the formulas of cracking-resistance capability and ultimate shearing-resistance capability of prestressed brick masonry wall are advanced. Though comparing theoretical value with experimental value, the research indicates that appling prestress in the wall can delay the development of the crack and improve the crack resisting capability, the research can provide a valuable guide for the construction.
