Brick masonry is the oldest building materials, which is the dominant traditional walling materials in china for thousands of years because of its good mechanical properties and easy materials, production and construction, low cost. Brick and concrete masonry structure is hybrid of these two materials in the construction of the structure. Because of its low cost, easy to do and good performance, it is widely used in small and medium-sized cities for following a seven-story residential apartments and public buildings.Brick and concrete masonry structure will emerge different levels and different forms of cracks in the course of construction and use. And this has become a more common phenomenon. Structure cracks in the brick wall there is not only lower the quality of the wall, as a whole,the seismic performance and durability, and have to sell in sensory and psychological adverse effects. So how to control cracks in the wall has become an issue that must be seriously dealt with.In this paper, the investigation and analysis is done with the structure of masonry wall cracks status, then the theoretical analysis to the temperature stress and the uneven settlement, and the qualitative and quantitative research focused on the stress due to temperature difference. Meanwhile, in this paper, the breakdown analysis which is about the distribution and the causes of the cracks in the wall reasons for the stress due to temperature difference and the uneven subsidence is done. In view of the current status of scientific research and the common problems of engineering design and construction, the prevention and control measures have been put forward for issue of the temperature cracks and foundation wall cracks caused by stress due to temperature difference and uneven settlement.In addition, with the engineering example, this paper has a detailed analysis to the foundation design problems that easily ignored. The calculation and analysis of the base width is done to the location of that easily lead to wall cracks, and the base width calculation method of this proposed site. For wall strip foundation of crisscross walls, the foundation width has some commonly used adjustment method, based on these methods of calculating comparative analysis of the data, we know that, PKPM software to calculate the result was the basis of the basement area and the actual needs of the basement area of great difference, and basal and poor uniformity,when we use the calculation wall line load that PKPM software provide to calculate, the method is simple and clear, and the final calculation of the basement area and basement close to the actual needs of the area, the basement good uniformity. Thus, we suggest that when adopt the wall load line provided by the software PKPM to design the width-based, we can use the direct algorithm; In addition to the width design of the linking foundation, in the light of this engineering example is calculated, with different circumstances, we made a different calculation methods.
