The modernization of higher education in Taiwan began in1895. With the rise ofeducation reform of non-governmental forces in Taiwan, the policy of highereducation gradually relaxed, campus planning and design also is valued. Campuspublic space system is an important part to reflect the campus quality, which is thefocus of the campus construct. The university campus environment as an educationpersonnel place, the design of public space and the understanding of quality affect theperception of campus life and environmental planning, it is also the specificperformance of the University’s overall competitiveness.The direction of development of higher education is the democratization of theeducation system, the process of education for life, the diversification of educationalfunctions and the educational structure, and the expansion of higher education willcontinue to persist, it directly leads to an increasing shortage of school buildings area.The diversified development of Taiwan on the campus planning and school design,protection and renewal of the old campus space, as well as the results achieved in thenew campus of the reflective spatial development, can be reference and inspiration ofthe mainland space campus construct, and it has important significance.Based on the above factors, the starting point of this paper is to create anddevelop the campus public space, the study object is the public space form of the oldand new campus, the paper use a comparative approach to explore the similarity anddifferences of public space form in the new and old campus of Taiwan, anddevelopmental strategy. Through the comparative analysis, we can complete grasp thefactors that affect the quality of public spaces, and the interaction between user andpublic space, and the design strategy of public space in the future. Overall, in the firstchapter of the study establishes a variety of study object issues, and describes theconnotation of campus public space in detail. The second and third chapters belong tothe basic research section, pave the way for the comparative study of the below,introduce the development of Taiwan universities’ overall spatial planning throughexamples, and explain the causes of the differences of old and new campus space.Chapters four and five is the comparative analysis part of the paper, through twoaspects of the interface characteristics and morphology of the space, compare thematerial of the old and new campus space, and through two aspects of cognitive and communication of the space, compare the creation of the old and new campus place.Chapter six describes the development strategy of the old and new public space, andgives advice on the deficiencies of related aspects of China. The final conclusion isreflected in three aspects of the comparison of composition both the two places,comparison of creation both the two places, the development strategy of the two,summary on China in the relevant aspects of the revelation. |
