Residential environment is an important part of urban environment, safe residential environment is the basic safeguard residents quality of life. The main users of residential area is children, their growth process need outdoor activities. However, due to the children’s own psychological development and behavior from the adult, in outdoor activities, the total on the surrounding things have infinite curious, often put themelves in danger, the residential area outer space environment put forward higher request. In addition, due to our residential area environment design mostly by adult’s use standard and aesthetic requirements to design, lack of children use safety. Therefore, residential area outer space environment in children use process more or less have some potential safety problems.The paper with the help of children’s mental development, environmental behavior, environmental psychology, architectural space environment and behavior relationship research results, analysis children in outer space activity behavior and its behavior and external environment of mutual relationship, more children to the environment cognitive. Based on the above theory, the fourth chapter is the residential external environment for children to use existing in the safety problem of current status of field investigation and questionnaire analysis.
