With the high speed development of economy and people increasingly ascending life level, China’s demand for energy is more and more big. However, because of the large number of the consumption of coal and oil, the environmental pollution problems appeared then. As a result natural gas as a clean, efficient energy gradually taken seriously place by people. But as the development of the demand for gas, the demand of gas meter, as the settlement of the main measuring instruments, is in the wide use and grow rapidly. Test gas meter is qualified gas meter is put into use of prerequisites, so gas meter calibration work draws more attention from people. For a long time, measurement technology institutions metrological verification work has been in strict accordance with the metrological verification code requirements, according to the verification procedures stipulated in the test items and test methods to carry out verification work, and according to the test results of inspection measuring instruments shall be evaluation. But in the process of verification work to carry out how to scientific and efficient arrangement each test project order process; How to scientifically put measuring instruments; How to optimize work environment to improve the working efficiency; Test operation procedure standards such problem has been in a state of blank. Therefore, the use of industrial engineering on metrological verification work technical transformation is very necessary.This paper will take Q Institute of Measurement and testing (QIMT) for an example, research and analysis the gas meter test working procedures, work environment present situation and the existing problems. First, straighten out gas meter test project step, through the basic industry engineering and human factor engineering related content on verification procedure optimization design. Secondly, design the layout of gas meter calibration laboratory logistics to optimize the working environment. Finally, make gas meter calibration work standard procedure, and lay the foundation for explore the research such gage verification work standardization laboratory equipment layout.This paper will promote the industrial engineering theory in the measure technology institution laboratory design, the application of laboratory standardization in our country designed to provide valuable basic research paradigm. The study can provide operation workers reasonable quantity of work at the same time, improve the measure technology institution mass calibration of measuring instruments work efficiency, reduce bulky error caused by working procedures and the environmental impact.
