Steel coupler and steel tube of the formwork support used widely in civilengineering because it has a number of advantages, including: ease of installation,applicable to a wide range, lower cost, safety and so on. However, in recent years thesafety accidents of formwork support take place continuously, and cause seriousconsequences. The reason of the accidents includes material quality problems, such asdefective, steel fastener corrosion, etc. The primary reason is that the comprehensiveunderstanding of the mechanical behavior of the formwork support has still not bebuilt, which leads to the design and setting calculation is not enough scientific and theconstruction safety management is not in place. So it has important theoreticalsignificance and practical engineering construction value to study the mechanicalbehavior of steel tubular formwork support with couplers.This paper is mainly based on the analysis of the composition, in which the steeltubular formwork support with couplers is used. It summarized the present research achievements on the stress performance of the scaffold and the formwork support. Through the combination of the works in the predecessors and construction of the new terminal building in the expansion project of the Erdos Airport Terminal Area, more comprehensive research is carried out on the operating performance of the steel tubular formwork support with couplers, and the safety management is also emphasized in the construction process of the scaffold. This paper has mainly studied the following severalaspects:1. This article summarizes the research status of the mechanical behavior of thescaffold and formwork, and specifies the calculation methods of the scaffold andformwork. Concurrently the article proposes the calculation process and cautions offormwork and the scaffold erection of the reconstruction and extension project ofOrdos Airport terminal.2. The reconstruction and extension project of Ordos Airport terminal iscomplicated, and the shape is novel, which cause difficult to the constructionorganization and the formulation of construction scheme of the formwork and thescaffold erection. This article proposes the rational construction scheme andguarantees the project carrying on smoothly. 3. For the project is complicated for construction management, this articlesummarizes the errors which occur easily in management of practical engineeringduring the process of scaffold erection and construction of formwork, rectifies thewrong practice, formulates a series of management system of scaffold and formwork,and make the formwork and the scaffold erection safe.Through the practice, it proves that this paper work has saved manpower,material resources and made remarkable effect for the benefit of the project.
