Since the20th century, along with the two major trends of globalization andurbanization, regionalism problems of the modern urban landscape have been raised evenmore concern. In the context of globalization, the growing phenomenon of culturalconvergence has resulted in the loss of the similarity of the urban landscape and urbancharacteristic. Achievement projects and the exaggerated images of the cities, whichhave been blindly imitated and copied, make the urban landscape lack of socialsignificance and humane care, and ignore the real needs of the public. For contemporaryChina, which is in the process of rapid urbanization, the construction of urban landscapehas appeared many drawbacks. Faced with the missing of regional and publiccharacteristics in the contemporary urban landscape, it’s urgent to reshape the public viewof urban landscape regional design in order to maintain and enrich uniqueness anddiversity of the urban landscape, and arouse the public’s sense of cultural identity and citybelonging. This paper firstly explores the nature of the urban landscape regionalism, throughexpress related concepts of urban landscape regionalism and determines that thedifferences in regional factors constitute the foundation of the city landscape features.Throughout the origin and historical development of the landscape regionalism design, from the Western gardens to the Eastern gardens, from the pastoral scenery withagricultural landscape style and the pursuit of picturesque life to pursuit of the truenature garden that opposes artificial, from regionalism to critical regionalism that reviewto the local and tradition, the pace of exploration to the "regionalism" never stopped. Inthe contemporary context of the global multicultural, the urban landscape regionalismwhich towards public view becomes more open, more unique, more dynamic and moreinnovative. In order to shape the urban landscape to return to the general public and the local, thepaper has introduced and summarized the general expression of the public view of theurban landscape regionalism design in the language of natural environment, spatialmodeling, cultural symbols and memories of the city. Take project practice in the Turpanarea for example, the project attempts to use the means of engineering technology inethnic minority areas where regionalism characteristics are especially vivid, to stand bythe point of the public view, to heritage local historical and cultural connotation, tohighlight the geographical identification of the city’s character, to realize the societyhumane care of urban landscape. Through landscape regionalism design of national newenergy demonstration area in Turpan, the paper has got a new understanding of the urbanlandscape regionalism on the public view. Urban landscape is the true regionalism only forthe needs of public, and truly urban landscape regionalism must serve the public. Thepaper makes clear that the shaping of the contemporary urban landscape features shouldbe given a double connotation of "regional" and "public", and also should reflect the senseof social responsibility and human values behind the landscape, so the urban landscapewalks towards a more democratic, more open, more humane care level.
