With the implementation of the compulsory law for Coach Passive safety,domesticCoach producers are paying more attention to it. In the Chinese coach technology, GB/T17578-1998“Provisions of strength for the superstructure of bus”,GB13057-2003“Strengthrequirement and test of automobile seats, their anchorages and any head restraints”,GB18986-2003“The safety requirements for light bus construction”, GB/T19950-2005“Thesafety constructional requirements for double deck large passenger vehicles”,GB13094-2007“Technical specifications of Bus Structure Safety Requirements” andGB/T16887-2008“Safety requirements for sleeper bus construction” are promulgated since1998are beneficial to evaluate the passive safety of bus.Based on the dynamic nonlinear explicit finite element theory,the paper argues somekey techniques of finite element modeling such as model simplification meshing density anddefinition of material parameters superficially. The article takes up with study on strength ofbus superstructure when side-rolling crash happens,sets up finite element model of two busbody frame using FEA software CATIA and HyperMesh, and simulates the side-rolling crashwith non-linear finite element analysis software LS-DYNA according to ECE r66regulations.Then four kind of quantitative evaluations and the FEA model standardization on the coach’srollover impact are put forward by the rollover simulation based on the minibus6756and thecoach6122DA.Verifies the validity of model building method by comparing the emulationresult with the bus side-rolling crash test result,provides reference for the structureoptimization design later. Then studied the quality of equivalent load based on the coach andthe body truncation, provide some standardized Suggestions.Starting from practical project purpose,here the author discusses the content and projectof the test about the crash of the side-rolling bus,provides some valuable reference for thosewho want to do the similar experiment,deals with the data collecting from the experimentwhich will provide practical foundation for model building and validating.
