With the increasing of automobile amount, traffic accident has become a serious problem in the world. The number that the whole world annually died in the road traffic accident estimates to exceed 50 myriad peoples, road traffic accident give the life and property safety of mankind bring serious of disaster. So the research of automobile passive safety technique has already become an austere lesson of nowadays world car technology research. The statistic data of traffic accident in the last ten years indicated that traffic accident caused by side impact is higher than front impact, the death rate caused by side impact is only next to front impact, but the harmful rate caused by side impact is the highest in the all impact accident.In early period automobile side impact safety research repeat test primarily is adopted, automobile structural crashworthiness, occupant system and performance test depend on experiment and experience, this demand a very long research period, it also demand a lot of manpower, material resources and the financial power, even if such, the result that repeat test got is also uncertain ideal. With the modern science technique developed deeply, appearance of a passel of advanced automobile virtual testing soft offer nicer foundation for research of automobile side impact passive safety. Main advantage of virtual testing is:in the design stage of automobile product we can imitate and analyze automobile product, And we can expediently actualize the analysis and research of impact from which real car experiment can not implement, completely find and solve the problem, shorten developing period and reduce research expenses. Because automobile side impact test is in the theory research phases in our country, automobile side impact protection regulation was came on just for about only one year. Focusing on this case, the topic study virtual testing for automobile side impact, research the correct method to build the FE model, discuss the effective car impact CAE analysis skills according to the regulation, to provide secure evaluation criterion for the security of car side impact.Nonlinear dynamic finite element theory is applied in this article, we use LS-DYNA software to simulate real car side impact, establish finite element model of full vehicle and side impact movable deformable barrier(MDB), and then we set and control simulation process parameter in automobile side impact virtual test, finally actualize automobile side impact virtual test, the results include the car's displacement, velocity, acceleration and energy, achieved comprehensive and credible appraisement with the side impact process and impact performance.
