The Study Of The Development Of Urban Residential Space In Lanzhou City Since1990

Since1990s, influenced by rapid economic development, and following the rapidadvance of the urbanization, and economic transition and social class, the socialstructure have gone through a transition period. Therefore, urban spatial structureenters a transformation period that restructures and changes. Lanzhou, as thenorthwest inland city, accelerated the process of urbanization noticeably during thisperiod, and urban spatial structure has greatly changed and living space appear moreobvious class differentiation, residential segregation and agglomeration,marginalization of vulnerable group and blind expansion phenomenon. But theresearch on this subject relatively falls behind, and most of that are involved in somerelevant researches. The special natural and geographical environment andsocial-economic development is lagging behind the urban living space by a profoundimprint of the geographical in Lanzhou City, structural evolution and spacedifferentiation has its own specialty, but research in this area is much weak. Therefore,the system research of the living space evolution in Lanzhou city, not only ordered theconstruction of the harmonious development of the basis for decision making to acertain extent the scientific planning of the urban living space in Lanzhou, but alsoprovides a rich case in study urban living space. In this paper, from the view oftheoretical analysis and empirical research, Lanzhou urban living space as object ofstudy, recalling the Lanzhou urban residential space evolution characteristicsbefore1990; On this basis, the paper research the expansion history of thedifferentiation characteristics of the Lanzhou urban living space, and analyze thedynamic mechanism of the evolution of living space.First of all, this paper defines the relevant concepts of urban residential space,and summarizes and comments the current situation of theory research on it bothhome and abroad. From this analysis, the paper finds that foreign research has alreadyset up comparatively complete theoretical system, and formed different theory schools,but the relevant research on it in China is still at the starting stage and has not formeda more systematic and mature theory and research framework with Chinesecharacteristics, and the number of empirical studies is not enough.Secondly, this paper reviews historical development process of urban residentialspace in Lanzhou city, and several conclusions can be drawn as follows. It takes on ajumping group expansion pattern spatially, and it is a belt expansion that orient fromeast to west, which the residential construction is mainly built by unit mode, with a fluctuating development apparently. Meanwhile, as to the divergence characteristicsof urban residential space, its spatial divergence frame is based upon the functionaldistribution, and it displays a circular divergence pattern driven by urban development,with a divergency of unit mode and segregation state between urban and ruralresidential space spilt by the household registration system.Thirdly, the paper puts forth effort to analyze the current situation characteristicand segregation phenomenon of urban residential space in Lanzhou city since1990.On the one hand, the Lanzhou urban living space expansion mode combining thedevelopment of urban transformation and the outward expansion of residential realestate development as the main form of organization of residential land, living spacehas also experienced slow growth to rapid growth to the rapid growth of theexpansion process, and has shown to tend to the edge of the city, transport links,beautiful natural landscape areas and development zones layout characteristics. Onthe other hand, Lanzhou City, living space from the career-based functional areas-Unit differentiation into new model for income-based "type-level differentiation,specific performance is sub-type of the structure of living space the hierarchy betweenthe different geographical residential area divided into different two types.Finally, the paper dissects the drive mechanism of development andreconstructing of urban residential space in Lanzhou city since1990. It pointes outthat national macro strategy and policy of urban government, the development of theeconomy and the fast developing urbanization lead increasing continuously of urbanresidential space, and urban development strategy and planning thought areinfluencing the shape transformation of urban residential space, and moreover, thetransition of economic system, the restructuring of economic structure, the turn ofhousing supply market and the transferring and selecting behavior of public housingcause the restructuring and segregation of urban residential space. As influence forcefactor of urban residential space, natural ecological environment plays a limiting andrestraining role, and by making the best use of the situation, environmental factors ofnatural resources, as urban residential space evolution reaction exists. It is thesefactors together that contributed to the evolution of the Lanzhou urban living space.
