In our daily life, lights are essential, and the system of light control has been a vital part of Intelligent Building System. Nowadays, people gradually improve the quality of life, while shortage of energy is increasing, saving energy which used for lighting has become the focus of building energy efficiency, and intelligent lighting control system becomes particularly important. The role of intelligent lighting control system is not only to create a favorable light environment, but also to save energy. Using the system, lights are used when users need, and the management of lighting systems can be more scientific and efficient. This design is based on ZigBee. It used ZigBee to build a wireless network to design intelligent lighting control system. Using wireless network made the whole system low cost, flexible, and convenient.ZigBee is an emerging wireless technology, which is short-range, low rate, low complexity, and low power, low-cost. These features make ZigBee technology has broad prospects for development. Its mainly applicable field is automatic control and remote control. In addition, ZigBee Alliance has defined a set of wireless lighting control specification, which ensures all producers of related products to interoperability, so that ZigBee for Intelligent lighting system used widely promoted can be possible. In this thesis, detailing the characteristics and its application of ZigBee wireless communication technology, in contrast to other wireless technologies, the established use of ZigBee wireless networking technology for complete control of lighting.After determining the system of wireless networking mode, according to system requirements, this thesis describes ZigBee protocol stack structure, the ZigBee network topology structure, the ZigBee network nodes, and the design of routers, coordination, remote control and terminal equipment. This system mainly uses the CC2430 chip. CC2430 is a true System on Chip (SoC) CMOS solution. It combines a high performance RF transceiver core and a highly efficient 8051 controller. And it can meet the design of the ZigBee node structure.
