Structure Expression In Transformation Of Old Industrial Buildings

With the progress of science and technology and the development of social, the reuse of the old industrial buildings has begun to enter a new historical stage in China. Reaching a consensus on the importance and necessity of that, the concrete strategy about how to transform the old industrial buildings has become the focus.As the core of the old industrial remains, the old industrial buildings have multiple values, Including social value, economic value, context value, landscape value, and so on. With the growing emphasis and protection to the old industrial buildings, many of them survived in a lot of areas; however, because of the lack of relevant practical theory, not all changes are satisfactory. The most prominent point is the efforts for Industrial quality and aesthetic value contained in old industrial buildings is far from enough. Quality and aesthetic value of Industrial architecture industry often utmost reflects in its structure system. This paper elaborates the construction technology and its shape and relevance on the reuse of old industrial building, making structure expression through the whole process of industrial heritage preservation and reforming. Under the guide of structure expression, the methods creating outside shape and internal space of the old industrial buildings were studied. The purpose is to enrich the practice theory in reuse of old industrial building, and promote to the healthy development of the reform.
