With the rapid economic development of our country, Subway, Light railway and other urban railway systems have become the primary choice for many large cities to solve the traffic problems because of their large transportation capacity, high efficiency, low pollution and other advantages. At present, The metro vehicle running in the subway line have three types:A, B and C. The vehicle running in the Beijing Fu-Ba line is one of the typical B-type metro vehicles. Now its service time has been exceeded overhaul deadline since it was put into use. The original structure of Fu-Ba line vehicle is obsolete. This paper makes Fu-Ba line vehicle as model and does some structure optimization and improvement.First, do some simplified treatment to the bogie frame, which we should consider the actual force to the frame and the finite element simulation calculation. Then build up the solid model of the bogie frame by use of three-dimensional modeling software Pro/E.Second, topology optimization analysis for inner fibs of bogie frame is done with structural optimization design theory and OptiStruct software. So that we can determines quantitatively the position of inner ribs. And then, on the basis of optimal topological structural, the dimension optimization for plate thickness of bogie frame was implemented with OptiStruct. By the comparison of related parameters for the optimized frame and the original, it is shown that stiffness of the whole optimized frame has increased, and the weight has decreased. We achieved the goal of frame lightweight design.Third, build up the finite element model after optimization. Referring to UIC615-4OR-The Reliability Trial of Bogie Frame, we make strength analysis to the frame and it shows that the static strength and fatigue strength of lightweight frame can both meet requirement of standard.The conclusion provides a scientific basis for inner ribs layout of frame and this method provides a helpful reference for lightweight design of other types of frame in this paper. On the other hand, structural topology optimization design was discussed.
