The metro vehicle running in the Beijing Fu-Ba line have been put into use since August 1999, now its service time has been exceeded overhaul deadline. According to the problems which were found in the overhaul of metro vehicle of Beijing Fu-Ba line, that cracks which appeared in the local structural such as gear-box bracket, motor hangers etc of the bogie frame, this paper make corresponding structural optimization and improvement of the gear-box bracket. Bogie frame is the most important bearing part of the vehicle and suffers a variety of static and dynamic load and the work load of the installation components from the body and wheel. Its reliability directly affects the safety operation of the vehicles. The gear-box bracket is very important in transmitting traction force and fixing gear-box, if the cracks continually develop and cause the bogie destruction, the lives of the passengers would be threatened. Therefore, it has great significance to the research on the structural strength of bogie frame and structural optimization for the gear-box bracket.First, this article builds up the solid model of the bogie frame by use of three-dimensional modeling software Pro/E, and then generates a finite element model of frame by import the solid model into finite element analysis software ANSYS11.0 after mesh by Hypermesh.Secondly, referring to UIC 615-4 OR-The Reliability Trial of Bogie Frame and TB/T 2368-2005 Motive power units-Bogies and running gear-Bogie frame structure strength tests, this article tests and verifies the static strength and fatigue strength of the bogie frame, analysis showed that strength of the frame were satisfy the requirement in the main.Again, this article builds up the structure optimization model of the gear-box bracket, then makes topological optimization of the gear-box bracket by use of OptiStruct software and designs a new bracket based on the topological optimization. Finally, this paper carries out structural strength check and analyzes on the new bracket. Result showed that strength and stiffness of the gear-box bracket were increase.
