ITS(Intelligent Transport System)incorporates information technology, communication technology so as to solve various problems existing in transport infrastructure system and moving vehicles. Using ITS effectively can reduce traffic jam, improve vehicular security and improve efficiency of current transport system. Intelligent transportation systems serve the community better, serve the people and make people’s lives more convenient and beautiful.Intelligent transportation systems need a set of wireless communication protocols to aid in moving vehicles to complete the application. Until now, the ITS application is Electronic Toll Collection (ETC, the Electronic Toll Collection), the United States, Europe and Japan has developed a DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication) standard, but this protocol standard has many limitations, it is difficult to meet the development needs of the future of ITS. Therefore, the IEEE developed a WAVE (Wireless Access in Vehicular Environment) standards, the WAVE standards improved application of DSRC standard in the ETC, it is based on the802.11protocol architecture, the WAVE is able to achieve higher communication speed and greater transmission range, it contains the802.11p protocol, as well as the IEEE1609protocol family. And it can achieve better integration with existing Internet and the mobile communication network. In the field of intelligent transportation, the study of the core communications protocol is still far behind the developed countries in our country.We have established ITS institutions as well as the Standards Committee, but only limited to research on intelligent transportation applications (for example, ETC applications) as well as architecture.This topic take the Singapore ERP2item for background, it introduced the structure of the whole system and how to choose a type for WAVE/DSRC. It focuses on describing the position and role of WAVE in the entire system, the main task lies in carring out WSMP and carring to the test realization of OBU (on_board unit)and RSU(road_side unit) DSRC mold piece.
